September 9 was a big day for Apple fans all over the world, as Apple announced some major and minor updates to their latest tech offerings at the Apple Event 2024.

Apple Watch 10 - A Decent Upgrade

The Apple Watch series 10 is the latest update to the Apple watch lineup. With some highlight features like AI summaries, new watch faces, thinner design with a bigger screen, and an all-new sleep apnea tracker, this seems like a solid upgrade. We are also seeing an all-new titanium Apple Watch, which as the name suggest has a soft titanium finish with a matching band/strap.

What's new in the Apple Watch series 10?

• New 42mm and 46mm sizes

• It is thinner with a 9.7mm depth

• New microphones with voice isolation

• Built-in speakers to play music, etc

• The S10 chip and a 4-core neural engine

• Depth gauge to detect water depths

• Automatic track running detection

• Better wide-angle display, for better visibility

• 2000 nits max brightness

• Fast charge capabilities

• Updated watchOS 11

Updated Airpods 4 - Pro Features

The Airpods now come with some Airpod Pro features that will make it a much better value-for-money product. We are seeing active noise cancelling, voice isolation, and a smaller case.

These Airpods now have personalised spatial audio, thanks to the trustworthy H2 chip, which makes music sounds even better, Apart from music, Apple is boasting better calling quality and noise isolation which will work closely with the AI features on the iPhone. They are introducing a new mode called Conversation Awareness which turns of noice canelling for better sounding voice while speaking to someone. You will also see the new AI powered Siri on standby, which means you can call it out at anytime for quick actions or questions.

The iPhone 16 - Minor Changes But Extra Fast

The iPhone 16 seems like a minor upgrade, since most of what was shown either already exist in their android counterparts, or is of little use. We still see a major upgrade with the processor, since the new A18 chip is almost 50% more powerful than the A16. Luckily this year, both pro and base iPhones have the same chipset, enabling AI features accross the board. You will also see the action button on the side, just like the pro phones.

The highlight of the event was the Camera Control feature. This button like area on the bottom right side of the phone, allows you to open the camera with just a quick press, lets you scan objects for AI to identify with a long press, lets you capture quick photos and videos, and also enables a new gesture to control camera settings. You can quickly shuffle between zoom, camera pro settings, etc using the camera control button.
